Skip Bin Prices

Skip Bin Prices in Adelaide

A 2m³ or 3m³ bin sits comfortably on a standard suburban driveway with room to still get a car past. Anything from 9m³ up needs a decent run-up for the truck, so it’s worth measuring your access before you book.

Not sure which size? Most people underestimate. If you’re torn between two sizes, take the bigger one. A second bin costs far more than the size upgrade.

These are starting prices. Your final price depends on what’s going into the bin. Heavy or mixed waste costs more to dispose of than light or clean loads, so the same size bin can be priced differently from one job to the next. Tell us what you’re clearing and we’ll confirm your exact price before you book.

How much does a skip bin cost in Adelaide?

Our bins start from $350 for a 2m³ mini skip and from $700 for a 9m³ skip. Garden clean-ups with green waste usually sit close to those starting prices. Builders’ bins with mixed heavy waste sit higher.

The reason nobody can give you one flat number is that skip bin hire cost in Adelaide is driven by weight and disposal, not just the size of the box on your driveway. A 6m³ bin full of pillows and a 6m³ bin full of tiles cost the tip two very different amounts.

What actually changes the price ?

Waste type

A clean load costs less than a mixed load because it goes straight to a recycler instead of being sorted. Clean loads include green waste only, or bricks and concrete only. Separating your waste is the single biggest lever you have on price.

Weight allowance

Every quote includes a tonnage cap. Go over it and you’ll be charged for the excess at the weighbridge rate. We tell you the cap upfront.

Where you are

Deliveries inside the metro area are included. Runs out past Gawler, Mount Barker or down the Fleurieu carry a delivery surcharge. We’ll quote it before you commit, not after.

Access

If the truck can’t get in, the bin can’t go down. Mention it when you call if you have narrow laneways, low-hanging wires, steep driveways or tight corners, which are common in the older inner suburbs.

Looking for cheap skip bins in Adelaide? Read this first

Cheap skip bins in Adelaide are easy to find. Cheap skip bins where the advertised price matches the invoice are harder.

The common tricks:

A headline price quoted for a 2-day hire when everyone assumes 7.

A weight cap set so low that an average load blows through it.

Delivery charged separately once you give your postcode.

“General waste” quietly excluding mattresses, tyres, whitegoods and treated timber.

Surcharges for weekend pickup.

None of that is illegal. It’s just how a $200 bin turns into a $400 bin. When you’re comparing skip bin hire prices in Adelaide, check that every quote states four things:

the hire period

the tonnage cap

the delivery fee

the excluded items

Compare those four and the cheapest skip bin hire in Adelaide usually turns out to be a different company than the one with the lowest headline number.

What’s included in our price

What can’t go in a general waste bin

Some materials are restricted under SA EPA rules and need separate handling:

Paint, solvents, oils and chemicals. Take these to a Zero Waste SA drop-off point.

Asbestos: It needs a specialised wrapped bin and licensed disposal, so never put it in a general bin. Talk to us and we’ll arrange the right one.

Gas bottles, batteries, tyres

Wet concrete or liquid waste

Mattresses, whitegoods and e-waste can usually go in, but they attract an item surcharge. Mention them when you book and we’ll price it in.

Do you need a council permit?

If the bin sits entirely on private property, such as your driveway or yard, no permit is needed.

If it has to go on the road, verge or footpath, your local council requires a permit. That applies right across Adelaide, though the fee and processing time vary between councils, including the City of Adelaide, Charles Sturt, Marion, Onkaparinga and Tea Tree Gully. Most want a few business days’ notice.

Tell us when you book and we’ll walk you through it. Getting caught without one is a fine you don’t need.

Four ways to bring the cost down

Separate your waste

Put green waste in one load, hard fill in another and general waste in a third. Clean loads cost less to dispose of.

Break things down

Flat-packed furniture, snapped-up pallets and collapsed boxes let you fit close to twice as much in the same bin.

Load heavy first, flat, and level

Put bricks and soil across the base and lighter material on top. Anything above the rim is a legal problem for the driver and won’t be collected.

Book the right size first time

Stepping up from a 6m³ to a 9m³ bin costs far less than ordering a second bin halfway through the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a skip bin in Adelaide?

Our prices start from $350 for a 2m³, $400 for a 3m³, $550 for a 6m³ and $700 for a 9m³ bin. The final price depends on what’s going in the bin, so we confirm it once you tell us what you’re clearing.

No. It has to be level with the rim so the driver can tarp it. Overloaded bins get left behind, and you’ll still be charged for the trip.

You’re charged for the excess at the weighbridge rate, which we’ll tell you upfront. We’d rather put you in the right bin from the start.

Not if you’ve told us exactly where to place the bin and the spot is clear. A photo of the driveway helps.

Same-day delivery is often possible for metro bookings. Otherwise it’s next business day.

Get your price before you book

Tell us the suburb, what you’re clearing out and roughly how much of it there is. We’ll give you a fixed figure that includes delivery, tipping and GST, so you’ll know exactly what you’re paying before anything turns up on your driveway.
